Insects

Insects are the most diverse group of animals on Earth, with over one million described species — and many more still undiscovered. They can be found in nearly every habitat, from tropical rainforests to deserts and even urban environments. Despite their small size, insects are essential to life on our planet. They pollinate plants, recycle nutrients, control pests, and form the foundation of many food chains.

What makes insects truly remarkable is their adaptability. Their bodies are built in three main parts — head, thorax, and abdomen — with six legs and, in many species, wings. This simple but highly efficient body plan has allowed them to thrive for over 400 million years.
